5 Ways to Get More Energy Without Turning To Coffee

So since I quit coffee (if you’re wondering why, click here), you probably wander what I do whenever I feel like I need a shot espresso!

Let me first tell you that for a very long time I suffered from fatigue! And it was always frustrating as I would book to see the doctor, run blood tests and they would ALWAYS COME CLEAN!!

My symptoms including often included fatigue, bloating and constipation. You might think I am crazy for wishing this but I swear I was praying that my blood test would tell me that I was anaemic or had thyroid problems, that way I know what was causing my symptoms and I can work with that diagnosis. But no my blood test always came back normal in fact, last time (6 months ago) my blood test results showed that my B12 was too high!

Now vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that keeps your nerves and red blood cells healthy. It is responsible for the smooth functioning of several critical body processes. B12 deficiency is usually reported with symptoms of fatigue. However, according to my blood test I had too much of it and if anything I should have been full of energy and happy! Instead I was miserable, constipated and TIRED ALL THE TIME!

Anyways I had to figure it out myself as the doctor couldn’t help me, however he suggested that I was perhaps depressed! Well of course I was, wouldn’t you? If your body was constantly failing you.

In this post I will share with you what I learnt the last few months and my top 5 tips that helped me with my fatigue and increased my energy levels.

  1. Conquer Food Intolerances

So if you did read “My Story”, or “My Top 5 Health Tips” post you know that the very first thing I did was get rid of gluten from my diet. It took me 18 years to figure out that gluten was the reason why I was often constipated and bloated. Gluten was why I struggled to poop and why my skin would flare up whenever it had enough of the abuse I put it through.

If you notice that you get sluggish or very tired after eating certain foods then you probably have a food intolerance to that certain food.

You need to note down those foods that drain you and you need to stop eating those foods and replace them with healthier alternatives.

  1. Master Food Combination

I’ve touched on this earlier in “Tip #3” post but this is something not many people have come across and one of the most difficult thing I personally had to change when it comes to eating food but it’s extremely important and useful to know what happens in our digestive systems once these foods are combined.

Some of the immediate consequences of bad food combinations include gas, bloating, stomach ache, fatigue, and problems with elimination. Whereas long-term food combining can lead to more severe problems like bad breath, dry skin, rashes, chronic inflammation, poor sleep, low energy, and chronic digestion issues. Most people feel a surge of energy and naturally lose weight once they start following several simple food combining rules. So do educate yourself about Proper Food Combination or read “Tip #3” to get an idea about what I am talking about.

  1. Chia seeds

I love Chia Seeds! They are packed full of important nutrients and an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. You can add Chia Seeds to all kinds of snacks and recipes to increase your energy and make you. I love to add them with my smoothies or make my own chia pudding or just simply add chia seeds to my warm glass and lemon in the morning. They’re full of fibre and will help with your bowel movement first thing in the morning.

  1. Probiotics

Few months ago when I started doing my home enema I decided to take probiotics to help maintain my good bacteria! & if I have to recommend any pill it would be probiotics. I don’t take anything multi-vitamins other than my probiotics and since taking this magic pill along with good food combination my bowel movement is better than ever!

Some of the benefits include:

  • Probiotics can help replace  “good” bacteria in your body when you lose them (like after you take antibiotics, for example).
  • They can lower the amount of “bad” bacteria in your system that can cause infections or other problems.
  • They can help balance your “good” and “bad” bacteria to keep your body working like it should.
  1. Yerba mate

I was lucky to come across this drink few months ago and although I am not a big green tea fan or just teas in general I had to give this one a try after reading all about its health benefits.

Yerba mate is a nutritional powerhouse loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The obvious and immediate benefits of yerba mate are increased energy and enhanced mental clarity, alertness, focus, and concentration.

Yerba mate is well-known for providing an energy boost that’s been described as gentle, clean, and calm. In comparison to the other most commonly used stimulants in the world like coffee, tea, kola nut, cocoa and guarana, yerba mate delivers the most balanced energy boost

Yerba mate drinkers experience a state of alert wakefulness similar to that from coffee, but without coffee’s side effects. It rarely interferes with sleep and doesn’t cause the caffeine jitters. Even athletes use it to enhance physical performance.

Yerba mate boosts mental functions of all kinds. I am assuming you want to be as smart, productive, focused and creative as possible and Yerba mate may help you to do that.

Best selling author Tim Ferriss is probably the most famous self-proclaimed brain hacker. He admits he’s experimented extensively with brain enhancing substances of all kinds, including smart drugs. And, in the end, his all-time favourite brain enhancing substance is Yerba mate.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and found it useful 🙂

I’m a huge tim ferris fan plus I believe I could easily have a b12 deficiency due to being vegan. And there’s only so much tofu I can eat a day! Do you still use yerba mate and what differences have you noticed? Plus where can I get them from? X x x
